A lot of ironwork nowadays is mass produced, or whilst claiming to be traditionally hand forged is by and large bought components which are welded together. When I produce ironwork is it predominantly handmade, with the forge and the anvil from raw material. I have made numerous decorative pieces, ranging from external gates and garden arches, to interior decor such as roses, stair bannisters and curtain rails.
Restoration & Reproduction
I have extensive experience with restoring and repairing ironwork. This has ranged from Georgian gates to Victorian railings. When I undertake restoration work I endeavour to use the methods of blacksmithing which would have been used at the time: rivoting and pinning new steelwork to match the existing, lead fixing railings into walls and hand forging and fire welding joints.
I can create and reproduce steel work in a range of architectural styles.
I provide a bespoke service to all my clients. It is often the case that a client comes to me with an idea from which I can sketch a number of designs and discuss options to create what the client really wants. The majority of my work is made to measure and completely bespoke.
